COVID-19 FAQS

DO I HAVE TO WEAR A MASK?

Yes, you will be required to wear a mask as a condition of entry. 

Our staff may ask you to remove your mask momentarily so we can confirm your ID or for the safe sale of alcohol.

Masks must be worn when moving around the venue. Masks can be removed once you are seated at the table so you can eat and drink.

WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING TO CREATE A SAFE AND HYGIENIC VENUE?

As per the Public Health Orders, all staff and all visitors to the venue will be required to be vaccinated against Covid 19. 

A high level of cleanliness and sanitation is kept around the clock by dedicated Covid Marshalls and cleaning staff. 

Ventilation and physical distancing will be used to support other Covid safety measures that are outlined in our Covid Safe plan.

HOW MANY CAN WE BOOK FOR?

You can currently book via our bookings page for up to 10 guests. Bookings are recommended as capacity is limited.

HOW LONG CAN WE BOOK FOR?

We are currently offering sitting sessions of 2 hours. Head to our bookings page to book now!

WILL YOU TAKE OUR DETAILS ON ENTRY?

Yes, in line with the Public Health Orders you are required to check in using the venues Vic Services QR code. Your check tick will need to be confirmed by our staff before entering.

You will also be required to provide proof of vaccination against Covid 19 for entry to the venue.

WHAT ELSE DO I NEED TO DO?

Wash and sanitise your hands regularly, wear your mask when leaving the house, maintain social distance and continue doing the right thing so we can see you soon.

Most importantly, respect our staff and security as they navigate the new regulations. 

What should I do if I experience antisocial behaviour in the venue?

We strive to create a safe & inclusive space for everyone. If you experience antisocial behaviour in the venue please don’t hesitate to speak to a staff member.

Does The National have wheelchair access?

Yes, via the entrance on Victoria Street. We also have a fully accessible bathroom in the beergarden.

Are Under 18s allowed at The National?

Under 18s are welcome in the venue during kitchen hours. On Friday & Saturday nights this is 10pm at the latest.

Can I bring my dog to The National?

Yes, dogs are welcome in the beer garden and entry is via Lambert st.

Does The National have high chairs?

Yes, we have highchairs. Let us know that you are after one while booking.

Where is best to park at The National?

There is street parking along Victoria St and surrounding side streets, although be sure to check the signs for permit zones or clearways.

How do I get to The National via public transport?

Trams routes that take you here directly are the 109 Box Hill tram, the 24 North Balwyn tram and the 78 Chapel street tram. The nearest train station, North Richmond, is a 12 minute walk away.

Can I pre-order a meal?

If you’re on a tight schedule then you’re welcome to pre-order your meal. For large groups, we require at least 2 hours notice either over the phone or via email and are unable to split bills.

What facilities does The National provide?

We have an ATM and cigarette machine located in the walkway through to the courtyard.
