The National Hotel strives to be a safe and accessible space for all. 

We hope that the below information will be helpful in planning your visit to the venue.

If you have any questions or special requests regarding accessibility, please contact the venue prior to your visit.

  • Accessible Parking

    There is limited street parking on Lambert and Victoria Street.

    There are parking restrictions so please make sure to read signage.

    Bikes – There are bike racks on Lambert Street. Please ensure that your bike is locked up securely as this is a public area.


    Public Transport

    Trams – The National Hotel is located at Stop 22 on the 109 Box Hill, the 12 Victoria Gardens tram routes. The 78 tram terminates 100 meters from the venue on the corner of Victoria Street and Church Street.

    Please note the trams stops near the venue are not wheelchair accessible, the closest accessible stop is 300 meters away at the corner of Victoria Street and Burnley Street

    Trains – We are located 900 meters from North Richmond train station.

    Please note the ramps at North Richmond station are quite steep and not accessible for everyone.

    Drop off / Pick up – There is an area available for drop off and pick up on the corner of Lambert Street and Victoria Street.

    Wheelchair accessible entrance – Access is available from the side door on Victoria Street. Please call the venue on (03) 9429 8811, option 3, if you have any questions or access issues.

    Guide dogs and Service dogs

    Guide dogs and service dogs are welcome throughout the venue.

    Staff are happy to assist in providing drinking water for service animals.

  • Ordering from the table

    You can order and pay for food and drink by scanning the QR code fixed to the tables.

    These QR codes link to the Mr Yum app and show the venue’s food and drink menu.

    It will ask you to add your table number and once the order is complete the food and drink will be brought to the table.

    Cutlery will be brought out with meals.

    You can also order free drinking water using the app.

    Ordering at the bar

    If you prefer, you can come to the bar and our staff can assist you placing your order and taking drinks back to your table if required.

    Our staff are always happy to assist. This may include:

    • moving tables for access

    • assistance with menus and ordering, providing description of dishes

    • table service

    Please call the venue ahead of your visit if you have any particular concerns or questions around your visit.

    Table bookings – We have a number of different table options and areas in the venue. Please let us know when making a booking if you have any specific requirements and we’ll do our best to help.

    Finding a quiet space – The National is generally relaxed however if you require a quiet space, please ask the staff.

  • Accessible toilet – There is one accessible toilet in the beer garden area of the venue with wheelchair height basin, hand dryer and mirror. If you need assistance with the beer garden door leading out to the bathroom please ask a staff member for help.

    All gender toilet – The accessible toilet is gender neutral however you may use whichever bathroom you are comfortable with.

    Toilets – If you have mobility issues or you require extra room please be aware that some of the cubicles can be narrow so feel free to use the accessible toilet.

  • You can currently book via our bookings page for up to 10 guests. Bookings are recommended as capacity is limited.

  • We are currently offering sitting sessions of 2 hours. Head to our bookings page to book now!

  • Please speak up. We strive to be a safe and inclusive space for all. We believe everyone deserves to have a safe night out, any anti-social behaviour will be called out and not tolerated.

    You can report to our staff or security, or ask to speak to the manager on duty.

  • Yes, via the entrance on Victoria Street. We also have a fully accessible bathroom in the beergarden.

  • Yes, dogs are welcome in the beer garden and entry is via Lambert st.

  • Under 18s are welcome in the venue during kitchen hours. On Friday & Saturday nights this is 10pm at the latest.

  • Yes, we have highchairs. Let us know that you are after one while booking.

  • There is street parking along Victoria St and surrounding side streets, although be sure to check the signs for permit zones or clearways.

  • Trams routes that take you here directly are the 109 Box Hill tram, the 24 North Balwyn tram and the 78 Chapel street tram. The nearest train station, North Richmond, is a 12 minute walk away.

  • If you’re on a tight schedule then you’re welcome to pre-order your meal. For large groups, we require at least 2 hours notice either over the phone or via email and are unable to split bills.

  • We have an ATM and cigarette machine located in the walkway through to the courtyard.

  • We strive to create safe and comfortable environments for you to visit.

    We continue to maintain a high standard of cleaning and sanitation, promote air flow and ventilation. If you are feeling unwell, please stay home.

    Masks are not currently required in the venue, however they are encouraged in crowded spaces where physical distancing is not possible.
